NEW RV-10 BUILD

Vic from Base Leg Aviation has started a new RV-10 build. He will be doing occasional YouTube videos highlighting the choices he makes in tools, equipment, and features that he includes in the build.

In the above video, in addition to showing the tool choices he has made, Vic shows the rudder trim he designed and used on his 2 RV-10’s and RV-7A and has installed on the new RV-10 build. The instructions have been on Tim Olsen’s website at the following link.

The specs for placement on the rudder are as follows:

  • The tab is 11” total length.
  • It is 17 ¾ up from the bottom of the rudder where the fairing meets the rudder.
  • The servo center is 10 1/4” from the rear of the rudder and 21 ½” from the rudder bottom.
  • The access cover is 4 x 4.
  • The cover is 4 1/2” back from the leading edge of the rudder spar.
  • The 2 arms of the tab are 1 ½” in length each, bent in an “L” and the height is 7/8” with the hole at the ½” height.
  • The rod is 8-32 tpi zinc plated threaded rod.

Tim added the rudder trim after his aircraft was painted. Here is a link to his narrative on that:
